Confidentiality Statement

Confidentiality and young people - there is no cut-off age when a young person is deemed to require parental consent before seeking advice/treatment from a health professional.  Whether advice/treatment is given without parental consent is dependent on the young person's capacity to understand the information given and on their competency to make a reasoned decision.  Of course, the health professional will encourage the young person to confide in her parents/guardians.
